CIBOLA COUNTY - Cibola General Hospital is asking the community to vote in the upcoming election and support the mil levy renewal proposal.

The hospital is working with the Cibola County Clerk's office in preparation for the election. Ballots will be mailed to eligible residents after September 7.

Funding for the mil levy comes from property taxes. The existing levy is proposed for renewal every eight years by a special election, according to hospital officials.

The levy funds are used primarily to purchase state-of-the-art equipment, explained Marcie Chavez, CGH resource development and community relations' staff.

The hospital recently bought several new patient beds, new infant bassinets and warmers, and a state of the art fetal monitoring system. Other purchases will include a new 64-slice CT scanner to replace the existing 16 slice scanner, according to Chavez in this week's press release.
